The digital photo’s quality is the summation of many factors, a lot of which are related to movie cameras. However, it is not the major feature in evaluating the quality of the digital camera. Resolution which is another factor, gives an indication about the amount of feature that is captured. The different techniques in creating pictures make it unfeasible to compare the camera resolutions plainly based on the pixel generated by camera.

Resolution in amount of pixels is not the only means of calculating the quality of the image; a bigger sensor with the similar amount of pixel will create an improved image than the smaller sensor. The improvement made to reduce the noise of the image click is one of the most significant distinctions. This is one of the many advantages in digital cameras that have bigger sensors when compared to the smaller ones of similar resolution.

With an adequate quality of image and the merits of taking digital photos, most of the specialized news cameramen have started capturing their pictures using the digital cameras. Many of the part-time photographers have adopted digital photographing due to the convenience in sending pictures by email, inserting them in web or in displaying the pictures in digital frames. Cameras with digital technology have been included in many mobile phones; however, due to the poor quality lenses and small sensors in majority of these cell phones, the quality of the pictures taken in these cameras is unsuitable for producing even moderate size prints.

In digital cameras it is required to recharge or replace the batteries often and this indicates that the photographer requires contact to the electrical shops. Digital cameras are greatly sensitive to extreme cold and moisture. This is the reason why photographers working in remote places prefer film cameras, even though; the new digital cameras are well equipped with the anti-weather sensitive bodies.

The main advantages of using digital photography include (1) the instant view of the pictures taken, instead of waiting for the image to get developed. (2) Pictures can be copied from camera to computer or to any other digital device with ease and without degradation. (3) Facility to convert the color picture a black and white picture or sepia picture.

The main disadvantage of using the digital photography includes the lack of manual backup facility since the digital cameras depend on the electrical supply like batteries and sometimes the power cable.
